FOR SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION

Our policy of the continuous renewal of equipment means we can adapt quickly to any technological advance and changes in community guidelines regarding the reduction of CO2 emission levels in heavy transport.
The average age of PORCISAN’s heavy vehicle fleet is less than 3 years.
We always buy brands where fuel efficiency is the priority, such as Scania, a Swedish brand that plants a tree for every heavy vehicle purchased. Thanks to this project, our purchases contribute to the creation of a public green space. For each vehicle that we have purchased from this brand since 2013, we have received a certificate guaranteeing the execution of this action, with the GPS coordinates of the green space being created.

This action is expected to bind 16,250 tons of CO2 in five years of planting during the marked period, as per estimates made by environmental technicians.

FUEL CONSUMPTION CONTROL

In our effort to minimize fuel consumption and thus be able to comply with the levels of CO2 emissions set by community regulations, we have developed the following lines:
We monitor the fuel consumption of each of our drivers on a monthly basis.
We monitor various driving parameters.
We train our drivers in efficient driving.

LOCATION OF LOGISTICS CENTRES

Logistics plays an important role in our production process. The location of our main factory was thus always a determining factor in deciding the location of the logistics centres.

 

The acquisition in 2017 of our Pozo Estrecho factory where we currently manufacture 80% of our feed.

 

Located near the Port of Cartagena, where most of the raw materials necessary for the manufacture of our feed arrive, it has reduced transport distances, both for cereal and finished feed, and decreased the cost of transport, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to our other factory in La Murada (Alicante).

 

In terms of savings made in transport costs and CO2 emissions, this location is a competitive advantage over other pig producers whose factories are far from the Port of Cartagena

In relative terms, the reduction in the CO2 footprint produced per ton by the transport of feed and cereals is:

73% reduction of CO2 in cereal transport.
22% reduction of CO2 in feed transport.
In absolute data, they represent a 34% reduction in the CO2 footprint in total transport with an equivalence of: 261,000 kg CO2/year.
